"The National Team of Russia got a setter for the nearest two Olympics". Such words were said by our great coach Vyacheslav Platonov in 1996. Those words referred to Vadim Khamuttskikh, a 26-years volleyball player from "Belogorie" who would not be particularly impressive with his game or physical condition.
"Again this skinny one!" - could be heard over and over again on the stands when Khamuttskikh stepped on the court: so painfully weak the stern young man looked compared to his teammates (the sternness of his face came from this "eternal" beard). And when "skinny" started making errors failing to cope with a storm of emotions, stronger "epithets" would be thrown his way.
It's been a long time since then. Khamuttskikh has not got any younger, he is still full of emotions and hot temper, and hasn't gotten any more physical too. Only scepticism of the stands has vanished without a trace: fans all over the world admire the bearded setter's game today.
Here you will find more-or-less full file on Maestro, his biography, achievements, interviews, and, of course, his photos; also you can leave a message in the guest book. And don't forget, maybe this very moment Vadim is reading it!
